The Hunt Highway at Arizona Farms - Turn Lane, Traffic Signal and Preservation Project, in San Tan Valley, is set to begin construction on May 30, 2023, with an expected completion date of mid-August, 2023. The project, led by the Pinal County Public Works Department, will address the much-needed preservation of the roadway and improve safety measures for drivers and pedestrians.

The project will involve the installation of a southbound left-turn lane on Hunt Highway at Arizona Farms Road, providing a safer and more efficient way for drivers to turn. In addition, a temporary traffic signal will be installed to help control traffic flow during the construction period.

As part of the project, pavement preservation work will also be carried out between Magma Road and Oasis Lane. The preservation work, making up Phase 2, is necessary to address the deterioration of the roadway, which can lead to safety hazards for drivers and pedestrians.

Furthermore, the preservation work will extend to Arizona Farms Road from Hunt Highway to the Union Pacific Railroad Crossing. The preservation work will help prolong the life of the roadway, reduce maintenance costs, and improve the driving experience for the community. Phase 2 is expected to continue through mid-August and will include alternating lane closures and flagger operations.

The project is an important step in ensuring the safety and well-being of the community. The Pinal County Public Works Department is working diligently to ensure that the project is completed on time and within budget. However, delays can occur due to unforeseen circumstances such as weather or supply chain disruptions.

The county is currently awaiting the signal materials necessary for the project, but officials remain optimistic that the project will proceed as planned.

The Pinal County Public Works Department encourages the public to exercise caution and obey traffic laws in construction zones. The department reminds drivers to watch for construction workers and equipment, follow posted speed limits, and allow extra travel time during the construction period.

The Hunt Highway at Arizona Farms - Turn Lane, Traffic Signal, and Preservation Project is an important investment in the safety and well-being of the community. The Pinal County Public Works Department thanks the community for its patience and understanding during the construction period.

UPDATE: Project was originally scheduled to begin June 5, 2023. Construction has been moved up and will now begin May 30, 2023.
